FIA Presenting SolveOne Session:  Where’s the talent? At the NRA show on May 20 at 12:00 PM

The Challenge of Attracting Tomorrow's Leaders To The Foodservice Industry

This session will share solutions and collaborative ideas about the foodservice professional of today and our needs for tomorrow.  It was based on research collected and an in-depth educational program held by Foodservice Institute of America (FIA) in December 2007. Many solutions and perception-breaking ideas were identified to address the issue of attracting and cultivating the next generation of foodservice leadership and management. FIA’s three action teams focused their resources and actions that have addressed:

  • Repositioning the image of foodservice
    • How do we reposition ourselves as the passionate professionals and amazingly diverse industry we actually are
  • Recruiting into the foodservice community
    • How can we educate, interest, and invite a litany of generations into our industry?
  • Broadening internship possibilities
    • What would effective, invigorating, exciting internships look like that would educate the public to a broader range of opportunities in the foodservice industry?

Hear how they have probed, explored and have answered these questions and how you can gain new insight into these long-standing challenges.

Moderated by Joseph Carbonara, Editor-in-Chief of FES Magazine. Panelists include: Crystal Duncan, Georgia Pacific; Rod Collins, Rod Collins Associates; and Alexander Poulous, Jade Range LLC.

FIA hosted 2nd symposium in the Advantage Series on Industry Survival: Overcoming Commoditization

May 1, 2008

What do you do when your products and services are competing solely on price? Can you remove yourself from that situation? What steps do you need to take to differentiate yourself and your business? These questions were addressed at FIA’s second symposium which took place on May 1 at Caesars Atlantic City.

This thought-provoking, one-day program allowed participants to take a look at this critical issue, and create new ideas and insights to develop real solutions. This will have an enormous impact not only on the foodservice industry but every business – particularly in this difficult economic environment.

The speakers and moderators allowed all attendees to gain perspective on how to use your resources, your expertise and your communication style to steer you , your company and the industry toward a healthier financial future.

The night before the symposium all attendees had the chance to network and connect with the FIA family at the networking dinner.
